I stopped caring for my Etsy shop over a year ago and I came up with the idea of a relaunch. The plan was to spend a year or so rebuilding my “brand” and come back full force. Well, a lot has happened in the past year or so and I REALLY REALLY REALLY neglected that plan. My goal was relaunch spring 2016. Here it is May… Well, I haven’t amassed the product that I wanted to, but godajfalkjedammit I’m gonna do this anyways! For the past few days, I’ve been trying to refresh my Etsy shop and give it a more cohesive look. I’ve tweaked listing titles, prices, shipping costs, and photos, and fixed some back-end stuff like organizing files. While I’m not 100% done (because I probably never will be “done”), I did want to share a few listings: Prints are currently available in several sizes – 4×6, 5×7, 8×10, 11×14, 16×20, 20×24, & 20×30 – and ship FREE domestically (US). While most of my print design work is digital, I still like to print out “test prints” to make sure they’re turning out how I envision. Recently, I printed “Today Was A Good Day” because I wanted to see how detailed a small print would be. I thought I would end up just filing it away in a photo album or scrapbook later, so I went with a 4×6, but this little print wiggled itself into constant eyesight from my desk. I just propped it atop my dry erase board next to my desk, with no mat, no frame, no anything other than the print itself. And I find it so odd that something that I created actually speaks to me. I thought I would just shrug it off, but reading those words instantly sparks gratefulness for the good things that happened during the day, whether it be only one …

The New Year seems to be the time to reflect on the past year and to look forward to the next, so here’s a recap of what’s happened with Pink Loves Purple this past year: I shared many of my forgotten photos in a weekly feature: Forgotten Photos Friday. I took plenty of pictures of my niece Kelsi and shared a few: 1 2 Brian & I went to Detroit’s North American Auto Show. I shared a few photos from our disaster of a basement. I got a little tired with my old website design and started to refresh it with a couple tweaks. One thing led to another, and soon I had broken my old template, I was beyond frustrated, and I thought the design I was going for was hopeless. I let the blog sit broken for two days before I came back to it. I searched a few templates, tried some out, and fell in love with Tempera. It is one of the most customizable WordPress templates I’ve come across. I was able to get the basics ironed out quickly, and tweak deeper things with a couple lines of custom CSS. Overall, I am SO happy with this template. It’s a simple update, and not even one that most people see (if you’re reading, you’re probably doing so on a feed reader, not the actual site, right?), but it’s a weight off …

I’m working on a new listing for my Etsy shop; I’m calling it My Home. It would be a super-customizable, personal chalkboard-style print for your home of your home’s location.  For example, the above print’s address is in Farmington Hills, MI. To purchase your own custom print, all I’d need is your address, the size you’d want (I’m probably going to make these square), + a few color preferences (choices would probably include the “board” color, the main roads color, the side roads color, and the heart color). What do you think?  Would these be interesting to see in my shop?
